Entry informations for non-Hungarian citizens.
Non-Hungarian citizens are not allowed to enter Hungary in passenger traffic, except:
- citizens of the neighboring countries on the basis of the agreements concluded for the purpose of commuting (work, studies, health care);
- citizens for the purpose of humanitarian transit as agreed with the neighboring countries;
- Slovak, Czech, Polish, Austrian, German, Korean, Japanese citizens arriving from certain countries for the purpose of business travels;
- citizens of a neighboring countries in order to ensure the labor needs of the agricultural sector;
- in case of special appreciation, after positive decision. The electric form of the application should be submitted to the Hungarian Police via the following e-tool in Hungarian language:
As the preconditions of the entry, in all above cases the related the passengers shall:
- undergo a medical examination on entry with the result no COVID-19 symptoms;
- fulfill the entry conditions regulated in the Schengen Borders Code and
- prove that they are authorized to enter the country of destination.
For the purpose of transit from Western Europe is possible to enter Hungary at Hegyeshalom, Rajka and Tornyiszentmiklós border crossing points on daily basis from 20.00 to 12.00. Exit from Hungary is possible as follows:
- for Romanian and Moldovan citizens only at road border crossing points Ártánd and Nagylak;
- for Bulgarian citizens only at road border crossing point Nagylak;
- for Ukrainian citizens only at road border crossing point Záhony;
- for Serbian citizens only at motorway border crossing point Röszke;
- for Slovakian, Austrian, Slovenian and Croatian citizens is possible at all border crossing points which is opened to their home countries.
For the purpose of transit to Western Europe, the entry is possible:
- from the territory of Romania at road border crossing point Nagylak daily from 06.00 to 24.00;
- from the territory of Serbia at motorway road border crossing point Röszke daily from 10.00 to 22.00;
- from the territory of Ukraine at road border crossing point Záhony daily from 10.00 to 22.00.
During the transit period, the persons concerned:
a) are obliged to leave the territory of Hungary in the shortest possible time following the route designated for this purpose;
b) are obliged to stop in the territory of Hungary only if necessary for the passenger, at the designated refueling stations and resting places;
c) the violation of the rules on border crossing, residence, transport, health protection, route and stopping possibilities are considered as a minor offense [paragraph (5) Article 5 of the Government Decree 81/2020] and could be fined.
