Special forces

 

Out of the police units in Hungary, the Rapid Response Police Unit has the most complicated and specialised tasks. The riot police officers in protective gear do not only secure mass events, demonstrations or sports events, but are also patrolling public areas.

Mounted police officers and divers

 

The organization is the basis of the permanent riot police force, which employs nearly 2500 persons at its Budapest-based and in the countryside located subunits. Such police officers dealing with special tasks are also working at its organizational units as members of the bomb squad, colleagues of the air support unit, the money escort service, couriers, divers, the canine and mounted police and – inter alia – artists of the Police Band. Its colleagues cooperate with police units throughout the country if required so, and are also responsible for fulfilling special duties falling within their exclusive competence.

Tradition and innovation

 

The organization preserves the past of the Hungarian Police and indicates its future. At the 17,2 ha. territory of the central object in Budapest, the Militia Museum represents the bygone times. In these days, however, the unit uses cutting edge technology, incorporates the newest domestic and international experiences and carries out its tasks in an effective and proficient manner. Foreign delegations often choose to visit the Rapid Response Police Unit for its variegation.
