It is only the facts that the published article is missing. News stories published in connection with the boat tragedy of 29 May 2019 do not always contain factual and authentic information.

The fullank.hu website published an article on 24 June 2019 in connection with the boat accident of 29 May 2019. One part of the article elaborates that under the notice for vessel crew published in August 2018, a vessel not capable of moving at a speed of 6 km/h upstream, i.e. against the current, is forbidden to enter the Danube. According to the article, the Hableány was not capable of such a speed, her speed prior to the accident was 3,87 km/h therefore she ought not have been there in the first place. The author of the article drew the false conclusion that also the liability of the operator of the Hableány comes into question.

Conversely, evidence gathered in the course of the investigation prove that the Hableány was moving between the Chain Bridge and the Margaret Bridge at a speed exceeding 6 km/h. The statement in the article – that the Hableány was not capable of reaching the stipulated speed – is not accurate, the conclusion drawn from it is false and inflammatory.
